Privacy

Upstar ranks public GitHub repositories. This page lists the personal data it handles and why.

Without an account

  • Browsing is anonymous. Upstar sets no cookies for visitors and uses no analytics or tracking scripts.
  • If you subscribe to the digest, Upstar stores your email address, the topic you chose and your timezone, only to send the digest. Nothing is sent until you confirm the address.

With an account

  • Signing in with GitHub gives Upstar your public profile (login, name, avatar) and your primary email address. Upstar never stores a GitHub access token.
  • Upstar reads your public starred repositories to suggest topics.
  • Your topics, bookmarks, hidden repos, alert rules and digest settings are stored so the app works across devices.
  • A session cookie keeps you signed in. It is strictly necessary and is not used for tracking.

Emails

Every digest and alert email has a one-click unsubscribe link. Emails are delivered through an email provider acting on Upstar’s behalf.

Ads

When ads are shown, they come from EthicalAds, which picks ads from the page’s content without cookies or tracking.

Deleting your data

Delete your account from Settings: everything tied to it is removed immediately. To remove a digest-only subscription, use the unsubscribe link in any digest. For any other request, contactthe site operator
